Characterizing Thin-Films

     Contact Angles

Contact Angles provide information about the hydrophobicity of our films and as well the nature of the porosity or fluids in the pores of these films. Generally speaking, our films are hydrophilic and like to wet. This property can be altered by both physical/chemical as well as optical means. TiO2 films irradiated with UV light in excess of the band gap are said to become hydrophilic.
